Alexandria, VA – The National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) condemns in the strongest possible terms the coordinated attacks on New York City Police Department Officers who were injured while responding to reports of a large, disorderly crowd yesterday. Several Officers were struck in the face and were transported for medical treatment after being attacked.
“These Officers exemplified the very highest standards and tradition of service by American law enforcement as they risked their own safety to enforce the law in the midst of blizzard conditions,” said NAPO President Michael McHale. “Instead of respecting their office and authority, some in the crowd turned on them and injured them. On behalf of some 250,000 American law enforcement officers whom we represent across our great nation, we demand that these attacks be treated as the crimes they are, and that those responsible be identified, apprehended, and prosecuted.”
