Senate Confirms Gary Blankinship to Serve as United States Marshal for the Southern District of Texas

February 12, 2014

NAPO is pleased to report that the Senate has confirmed Gary Blankinship to serve as United States Marshal for the Southern District of Texas.  Mr. Blankinship, a former TOP COPS Award winner and Area Vice President of NAPO, has spent his career in serving and protecting the citizens of Texas.

Gary Blankinship has served in law enforcement for over 35 years. Mr. Blankinship was employed by the Houston Police Department from 1982-2012, where he worked in the position of Senior Police Officer.  Prior to his service with the Houston Police Department, Mr. Blankinship was employed by the Harris County Sheriff’s Department.  He also founded the Assist the Officer Foundation following the death of his partner to provide short-term, immediate financial assistance for officers critically injured or disabled in the line of duty.

When Mr. Blankinship’s nomination was first announced in May 2013, President Obama noted:  "Throughout his distinguished career, Gary Blankinship has served his country with great courage and commitment…It is my honor to nominate him to continue protecting the American people as a United States Marshal."

We are very excited about Mr. Blankinship’s long-overdue confirmation, and hope you will join us in congratulating Mr. Blankinship!
