Washington, D.C., March 22, 2005 - The Supreme
Court has ruled favorably towards law officers today in their decision
of Muehler v. Mena. NAPO, having filed an Amicus Curiae ("friend
of the Court") brief in the case with the assistance of our
good friends at the PORAC Legal Defense Fund, is extremely happy
with the outcome. Under this important decision, law officers are
now able to keep dangerous persons restrained while they can safely
search a premises under a proper warrant. The full opinion of the
Court can be read here.
