NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF POLICE ORGANIZATIONS (NAPO) TO HOLD ANNUAL
CONVENTION IN PORTLAND. INVITED GUEST SPEAKERS INCLUDE MEMBERS OF
CONGRESS & PROMINENT NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT FIGURES
Washington, D.C. - The National Association of Police Organizations
(NAPO) will hold its 20th Annual Convention at the Double Tree Hotel Columbia
River in Portland, July 29 – August 2, 1998, hosted by the Portland Police
Association. The convention marks a significant milestone for NAPO,
which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
NAPO’s annual convention attracts roughly 300 law enforcement delegates from across the country who gather each year to adopt resolutions on federal legislation, discuss the legal rights of law enforcement officers and to hear from prominent speakers on law enforcement issues.
Invited speakers include: U.S. Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR); U.S. Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-OR); Chief of Police Charles A. Moose, Ph.D. (Portland, OR); Vice Chairman Scott E. Thomas, Federal Election Commission; Director Joseph Brann, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, and other prominent national law enforcement guest speakers.
Discussions will include: an overview of legislation affecting law enforcement from the 105th Congress; federal PACS and campaign contribution laws; the future of collective bargaining in the public sector; an overview of Supreme Court cases affecting law enforcement officers, and other topics of concern to the NAPO membership.
The National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) is a coalition of police unions and associations from across the United States that serves in Washington, DC to advance the interests of America’s law enforcement officers through legislative and legal advocacy, political action and education.
