NEW JERSEY STATE PBA JOINS NAPO

ADDING 21,500 OFFICERS TO NAPO’s MEMBERSHIP

WASHINGTON, DC-The National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) announced today that the New Jersey State PBA has re-affiliated with NAPO adding 21,500 new law enforcement officers to NAPO’s growing membership.

“I am so pleased that the New Jersey State PBA has decided to re-affiliate with NAPO.  Their addition to our organization is a valuable one, and I look forward to working together with them on our top legislative priorities,” said Robert T. Scully, NAPO’s executive director.

“With the recent addition of the New Jersey State PBA, NAPO has now grown to 250,000 sworn law enforcement officers.  Our voice in Washington is now louder than it has ever been before!” said Thomas J. Scotto, NAPO’s president.

The New Jersey State PBA celebrated its 100th anniversary last year.  In 1896, the organization formed with five locals and has grown to a membership of over 367 locals.

“Our decision to re-affiliate with NAPO was an easy one.  NAPO is a great organization, and we have complete faith in the leadership of Tom Scotto and Bob Scully,” said Michael Madonna, President of the New Jersey State PBA.

“Through their leadership in Washington, DC, the voice of law enforcement will truly be heard.  We look forward to fighting for the rights of law enforcement officers on the federal level with their help on issues such as the reinstatement of the official use exemption for firearms under federal domestic violence convictions,” continued Madonna.

The National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) is a coalition of police unions and associations from across the United States that serves in Washington, DC to advance the interests of America’s law enforcement officers through legislative and legal advocacy, political action and education.  Founded in 1978, NAPO now represents more than 4,000 police unions and associations, 250,000 sworn law enforcement officers, 3,000 retired officers and more than 100,000 citizens who share a common dedication to fair and effective crime control and law enforcement.
