Legislative Update

Collective Bargaining Vote Summary

This afternoon the Senate concluded voting on S. 3991 the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2010. Ranking Member Michael Enzi (R-WY) of the United States Senate Committee on Health Education Labor and Pensions (HELP) spoke on the floor against this legislation and shortly before the vote HELP committee member Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) delivered remarks in favor of S. 3991.

The legislation failed to receive the 60 votes necessary to proceed to end debate and move on to final passage. The final vote is 55 in favor and 43 opposed. All Republicans voted against the legislation and three Democrats; Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), Senator  Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC) also voted in opposition to the bill.
